Happy Happy Joy Joy :(

My last comment was negative, so I'll throw in a few of my favorite Garfield comics. Poor little ball of yarn...just wants to play...

Here's how I feel today:

(notice the color, as well. That's part of the deal.)

A Very First...

So this morning I woke up with my very first...frappachino hangover. I went to Starbucks yesterday afternoon and got a frozen Grande Mocha Frappachino (which was REALLY good, by the way.)

So I was going on with my afternoon, and on into my evening waitressing, and noticed as the evening progressed, I was moving faster and faster, and my heartrate was going higher and higher. I was in a REALLY good mood! (BTW, good mood + mocha frappachino = bad a-- tips!)

Anyways, about 8:15 last night my blood sugar just plummetted, and I got really faint and dizzy. After half a grilled cheese, I was a bit better. I woke up this morning with a roaring headache, not unlike a hangover.

Let me tell you, I think they must have slipped a little "summthin summthin" in my Frappachino!

One positive thing about working at a state school:
They uphold the rules of break time (15 minutes in the am, 15 in the pm.)
And don't I just love my afternoon Starbuck's run...

I found a website where you can play MASH! Remember way back when? Oh, the memories...married to Marky Mark, living in a shack...with 6 children...{sigh}

Here is what I got:

You will live in Apartment.
You will drive a Navy Acura.
You will marry Brad Pitt and have 0 kids.
You will be a Statistician in North Carolina.

Ha ha ha - watch out, Angelina!

Just a Spoonful of Sugar...

Oh, the joys of insurance...(I'm at the doctor's office, insurance-cardless, needing my info in order to see the doctor.)

Me: Hi, I have a question.

Them: Yes?

Me: I don't have my insurance card with me. Would you be able to tell me my Group number and my ID number?

Them: If you'll remember, you can go onto the insurance website and print off a temporary ID card.

Me: Well, I didn't know that. But since I'm at the doctor's office right now, would you be able to access my information?

Them: {rattles off Group number}

Me: Do you have my ID number as well?

Them: No.

Me: Do you know how I might find that?

Them: You can call BCBS.

Me: Do you by chance have their 800 number?

Them: {rattles off 7-digit number}

Me: Now is that 8-0-0?

Them: Yes.

Me: So I just call and they'll give me my ID number?

Them: Yes.

Me: Okay, thank you for your help.

Dials insurance...punches 1...punches 3...sits on hold...sits on hold...sits on hold...

Insurance Answering message: We will be closed Friday, Feb. 17 through Monday, Feb. 20. Please call back tomorrow.

Me: @#%$!

Look in wallet...why, looky-there! It's my insurance card...

Just another in the long line of crap

Here is a line in a country song I heard the other day (I'm not lying):

"She left a note on the table saying, Well, here's a box of crayons. Now you can color me gone."

Happy Valentine's Day to Me!

Here was how my Valentine's Day evening was supposed to go:

Leave 1st work at 5 pm.
Truck it to 2nd work at 5:30 pm.
Check board at work to see what section I'm in, hoping for a good one.
Work 2nd work until 10:30+ pm.
Come home hungry, tired and grouchy.
Go to bed.

Here is how my Valentine's Day evening actually turned out:

Leave 1st work at 5 pm.
Truck it to 2nd work at 5:30 pm.
Check board at work to see what section I'm in, hoping for a good one.
Don't see name on board.
Check schedule, see name on schedule.
Have co-workers tell me to go home, too many people came in.
Ask manager, who sends me home.
Stop by store, get steaks and other goodies for yummy dinner.
Eat fabulous dinner with hubby.
End evening with Ghiradeli double-chocolate brownie and ice cream.
Leave dishes in sink.
Go to bed happy.

Woo Hoo!

My husband brought me flowers to work this morning. They are still sitting on the corner of my desk this afternoon!!

It must be love - MFEO 4-EVER :)

Trip Down Memory Lane

To take a note from my friend Sarah, I thought I would continue on and tell my story of my saddest Valentine's Day I've ever had.

The year was 1988...

So there was this really cute boy in 4th grade (his name was Zach.) Zach was "going with" the most popular girl in our class named Melissa (not me.) Well, right before Valentine's day, Zach and Melissa broke up (que delighted squeals and breathless gasps of joy from every other girl in 4th grade!)

On Valentine's Day morning, one of Zach's best friends comes up to me and gives me a stuffed teddy bear (white & fuzzy, holding a big red heart), saying "Here, this is from Zach. Happy Valentine's Day." I thought I was going to pee on myself! Every girl was looking at me with longing and jealousy (cool!). I proudly set the teddy bear on the corner of my desk for all to see. I was on cloud 9.

For about 1 hour. {sniffle}

Zach's best friend comes back by my desk later that morning, picks up the teddy bear, and says "Sorry - wrong Melissa" and TAKES IT AWAY!

(that sound you hear is my heart shattering into a thousand pieces, all over again.)

Stupid Zach.

I had to go to the doctor yesterday, my first trip since my insurance kicked in.
Here is the conversation I had with them yesterday (while sitting in the waiting room):

Them: Benefits, this is so-and-so.

Me: Good morning. I am at the doctor's office right now. My benefits just started Feb. 1st, so I have not received my card ye-

Them: -interrupting- If you will recall in the benefits meeting, this situation was explained.

Me: Yes, I know that, but-

Them: -interrupting again- And as we stated in that meeting, you can look at the Benefits handbook you should have on page 16 to read that it will take 4-6 weeks to receive your insurance card.

Me: Well, first, I didn't know I wouldn't be in the office today, and didn't know I would be visiting the doctor. Therefore, I do not have access to my handbook at this time. Secondly, all I need to know is how much my co-pay is for a doctor's visit.

Them: Oh...well, it's $20.

Me: Thanks, so-and-so. That's all I needed to know.

So I did this crazy thing yesterday...

I donated blood! It was such an odd experience, and a little emotional to boot! They took 1/8 (!) of my blood, and yes, I was a little loopy for quite a while afterwards (not a bad feeling...kind of like having a few drinks, but without the headache afterwards :) But the emotional part, which didn't hit until later last night, was I gave up a part of myself to help save someone else. My blood might be going into someone else's body, flowing through their veins, hopefully helping to save their life...surreal, to say the least.

And the free t-shirt is really cool!

My Favorite Brother

I hear my little brother is on his way to getting hitched...
Congratulation, Ben - you caught a good'n!
(although she's cuter than this catch :)
